Our Mission

Navagating the digital battlefield

Our goal is to support the 9 Million + Military Veterans in the VA healthcare system and over 5 million listed as service connected disabled.

Mission Statement

The mission of DD-214 Project is to provide FREE technology support and computer equipment to U.S. military Veterans who rely on digital access to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare system. Through remote technical assistance, computer repair, and donated hardware, we eliminate technological barriers that prevent Veterans from accessing medical appointments, health records, secure communications, and earned benefits.

Founder's Statement

Brad Schlerf, U.S. Army Veteran
I founded DD-214 Project with one simple belief: Veterans should never be locked out of the healthcare and benefits they earned because of technology barriers.

As a Sergeant in the United States Army, I served during the Cold War in Germany flying border missions and later during Desert Storm with the 1st Infantry Division and 1st Aviation. Like many Veterans, I understand what it means to serve — and what it means to rely on the VA system afterward.

Today, more than nine million Veterans depend on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare system. Accessing that system requires computers, secure logins, document uploads, telehealth access, and digital communication. For many Veterans — especially older or disabled Veterans — these requirements become barriers instead of gateways.

Technology should not stand between a Veteran and their care.
For over 40 years, I have worked in technology. I began programming computers in 1983. I then served 20 years in law enforcement as a major case detective and computer forensics expert. After retirement, I founded Forensic Solutions Inc, building a business grounded in integrity, precision, and service where I spent another 18 years specializing in computer forensics, data recovery, and repair.

For years, I have said: “If I could figure out how to afford it, I would help people with their computers for FREE."

DD-214 Project is how I make that promise real — for Veterans.

in 2026 we are launching with minimal overhead, requiring approximately $500 per month to begin providing FREE remote technical support and refurbished computers to Veterans who cannot afford them. As demand grows — and I believe it will — we anticipate expanding staffing to serve more Veterans nationwide, with projected operational costs of $15,000–$20,000 per month.

This organization is built on transparency, accountability, and service. As a Veteran, a law enforcement professional, and a lifetime in technology, I understand responsibility. Donations will be used directly to support Veterans — not to create unnecessary administrative overhead.

DD-214 Project is Veterans helping Veterans.

With your support, we can remove digital the barriers and ensure that no Veteran is left behind in today’s digital battlefield.

Respectfully,
SGT Brad Schlerf
U.S. Army Veteran
